We had a few requests for additional information about the event at University of Pennsylvania’s Grasp Labs last week. Our concentration here at Robots.Jobs is on company growth and new job creation in the robotics industry, and we leave the reporting of industry trends and news to partners and other news outlets. Penn has a long history with robotics, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise to see new robotics companies emerging from the university.

We are eager, though, both for our broader candidate community to know about growing robotics companies all over the world, and friends and partners who have been supportive of our efforts, as the Grasp Labs have been since our start. Here’s a great article reviewing the event.

We are sure that you will be hearing more from Qualcomm, Ghost Robotics, and the others in the coming years, so, getting an early start and familiarizing yourself, if you are a candidate or jobseeker with these companies, is always good practice.

In addition to the tremendous Pennovation Center, where some of these robotics startups are developing their products, friends of our from IFM Efector showed us the maker space a few blocks away where they are developing products. We had a chance to meet the team from Augean Robotics, who provided us with a tour and spoke about their business and the agricultural robotics products that they are developing.

All in all, we had a great time, and it is wonderful to see and meet the startup robotics companies in Philadelphia. We encourage our community to explore opportunities with these companies, as their teams will surely be expanding in the next few years.
