Utilizes current nursing practices to provide care to patients under going surgical procedures while focusing on the needs of the patient and exemplifying the service excellence goals of care, concern, respect and cooperation. As a contributing member of health care team, develops and provides a comprehensive plan of care for assigned patients. Recognizes and consistently applies knowledge of Loyola’s 14 Magnet Forces.

Minimum Education:

Required: Bachelors Degree

Specify Degree(s): Nursing

Minimum Experience:

Required 1-2 years of previous RN experience and at least 1 year of RN Robotic surgery experience

Preferred: 3-5 years of previous job related experience

Licensure/Certifications :


Basic Life Support (CPR)

Nursing – Current Registered Nurse license State of Illinois

Preferred: CNOR

Other: Specialty certification in a clinical or functional area of nursing granted by a national nursing organization is preferred.

Patient Care & Assessment – Clarifies and implements orders from

physician, physician assistant and/or advance practice nurse by

administering medications and performing treatments and testing as

prescribed by the physician, and documents accordingly (Magnet Force

#12). Recognizes symptoms and establishes priorities consistent with

patient’s condition (Magnet Force #9). Documents ongoing assessments

of patient’s physical and emotional status in order to address patient

needs appropriately (Magnet Force #’s 5,6). Demonstrates mastery of

required unit-based competencies and department goals. Collaborates

with Assistant Nurse Manager to make appropriate daily assignments to

meet the needs of the patient, team members and department.

Plan of Care – Obtains information from patient and/or family to develop

an appropriate patient care. Formulates, implements and continually

revises patient plan of care based on ongoing assessment of the patient,

information acquired from patient’s database, and resources within the

medical center (Magnet Force #’s 2,6). Collaborates with other members

of the health care team including vendors and surgical reprocessing to

promote effective patient care by maintaining accurate preference cards,

assisting surgeons in identifying needed equipment and supplies and

communicating information to staff (Magnet Force #13).

Communication – Performs required documentation and communicates in

a competent and effective manner to meet patient and/or family needs

and regulatory requirements. Maintains strict confidentiality of patient,

employee and department information to ensure patient rights (Magnet

Force #’s 3,8,13).
