KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead initiatives to continuously improve autonomous material transfer
  • Understand customer needs for future feature developments, generate requirements documents, and drive to completion among application engineering, product management and engineering teams
  • Develop, document, and implement applications for Seegrid customers
  • Develop clear and concise proposed description of non-recurring engineering labor and materials for special customer requests
  • Prepare diagrams and simulations for cross-disciplinary communication of proposed systems
  • Work with partners to develop a complete hands-free material transfer solution
  • Support sales staff with the determination of customer requirements and automated material handling solutions using Seegrid products
  • Estimate cost and develop pricing for engineering labor and materials
  • Travel to customer sites as needed (20-30%) to study and gather information critical to the overall system
  • Determine external control requirements for proposed vision guided vehicle systems (i.e. WMS, WCS, MES, etc.)
  • Propose and prototype PLC logic and integration
  • Define and document best practices for these activities, and continuously improve them
  • Train other employees and partners and advocate for this process

REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS in engineering or equivalent work experience as an Applications or Controls Engineer in the Material Handling Industry
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office
  • Simulation experience a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in manufacturing or warehouse optimization, preferred
  • Knowledge of warehouse management system integration with material handling equipment, preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate customer needs and problems and translate them into comprehensive sales proposal materials
