Product Manager, Aviation Infrastructure – Elevate

The Product Manager for Aviation Infrastructure will own the end-to-end conception, design, siting, regulatory approval, build-out, and maintenance for all physical infrastructure within the global Uber Air network. This role predominantly focuses on dense, urban “Skyports” (takeoff, landing, and charging facilities for Uber Air eVTOL aircraft), in addition to all their supporting physical infrastructure, e.g. maintenance facilities, hangar space, and recharging facilities.

Computer Vision Scientist

You will collaborate with a team of multidisciplinary engineers to tackle hard problems and help advance the future of autonomous robots. More specifically, you will apply computer vision and computational geometry fundamentals to real world problems related to autonomous vehicles’ ability to perceive the world around them. As an example, you will work with both 2D and 3D object detection and segmentation using deep learning to facilitate the autonomous robot’s operations. The position consists of the full development cycle where you’d design a test setup for emulating the real-world conditions, develop algorithms to perform the required measurements, test it on the field and refine the product by learning and applying new algorithms.

Software Engineer, Robotics

You will be responsible for the development, integration and testing of software and libraries of various systems on our autonomous robots. You will work with a cross-functional team of engineers to help solve problems in areas such as route and path planning, perception, localization, calibration, infrastructure and machine learning. You will also work on video streaming and image processing pipelines. Finally, you will work on data acquisition, visualisation, and warehousing.

Software Engineer, Robotics – Motion Planning

You will design, integrate and maintain solutions to global routing and obstacle avoidance subsystems for autonomous platforms operating in complex outdoor environments. You will be responsible for helping vehicles understand how to navigate from point A to B in the real world that looks a little different every time the robot leaves the depot.

Software Engineer – Robotics

This is a full time position working at the Roam facility in San Francisco. You will work with our software and electrical engineering team to develop, validate, and deploy the software for our early product platforms. This position is perfect for someone looking to have a significant impact on this emerging technology as we design, develop, and produce the next generation of wearable robots. Some of the specific responsibilities include:

Writing high quality embedded C++ software that can be tested and deployed on early systems

Develop high level algorithms to plan the device behavior, and control the system to perform as desired

Oversee testing and development efforts of new products with medical applications, which will require time spent on site at clinical testing facilities

We are seeking highly motivated and adaptable individuals who will explore the peaks and valleys of all problems that may come up while building a new generation of robots for everyday life.

Internships

In addition to full time positions, Roam is always interested in discussing internships in the major disciplines in our company. These include Biomechanics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Controls Engineering. However, due to the investment in time we make in our interns, we only consider placements that last for 6-12 months. To succeed in this position, you must be highly motivated to learn new skills and be able to demonstrate success and a history in taking pride in your work. As a member of a small team, you must demonstrate strong communication skills and an ability to guide the work at times when required. You have the opportunity to impact the future of exoskeleton design by working with our team make devices that do things no other hardware can, and ultimately deliver devices that change how people go about their daily lives.

Mechanical Engineer – Design

This is a full time position working at the Roam facility in San Francisco. You will work with our mechanical engineering team to design and manufacture our second generation product platforms. This position is perfect for someone looking to have a significant impact on this emerging technology as we design, develop, and produce the next generation of wearable robots. Some of the specific responsibilities include:

Contribute to the design and build of our second generation exoskeleton devices

Perform engineering analysis of the system components to maximize performance

Experimentally validate system design components based on user interaction testing

We are seeking highly motivated and adaptable individuals who will explore the peaks and valleys of all problems that may come up while building a new generation of robots for everyday life.
