Mechanical Engineer

This position will support the development of new products and systems within the FLIR Optical Components Group (OCG) in Charlotte, NC. They will support lens design activities by creating models/drawings of mechanical components for lens assemblies. They will also support project management activities related to new products and innovation initiatives. They will support the development of new metrology/test systems through fixture design, programming, and system configuration. Finally, they will support new and existing metrology/test processes to support product development at FLIR-OCG.

The team focuses on solving the fundamental challenges of autonomous vehicle development by finding innovative ideas and technologies in their nascent stages and qualifying their potential against high impact goals. The group also assists in strategic decision-making by providing insights and technical assessments of emerging companies in computer and sensor systems. Finally the team is able to support critical efforts across multi-disciplinary groups when the need arises.

VP of Engineering

As VP of Engineering, you’ll be an expert on our technology in order to guide our team and our long-term business strategy. You’ll be responsible for leading technical deep dives and understanding our architecture better than any other engineer on our team (no easy task!). Your highest priority will be preparing us to deploy our robots at scale — this means you’ll have a deep understanding of our technical roadmap, our customers’ requirements and needs, and a vision for how to achieve our goals over the next 6-12 months. You’ll need to roll up your sleeves and write code (or replace a broken relay), as well as manage and lead a growing team of 25 engineers. And in order to keep building the team, you’ll also be responsible for working closely with our People Operations team for recruiting and onboarding.

Applied Robotics Scientist

As an Applied Robotics Scientist at PickNik Consulting you will determine where academic research can be applied to solve our client’s problems and identify opportunities for innovation. You will be developing software applications, optimizing advanced algorithms, and integrating solutions for our clients, internal products, and flagship open source projects. Duties will include developing sophisticated software in a variety of languages and platforms that will be used on robots around the world (and in outer space!).

Engineering Manager – Industrial Automation

As an Engineering Manager – Industrial Automation, you will support and build a team of engineers focused on the state of the art in automation and robotics. This will include mentoring teams to succeed, providing them with all of the resources they need, and publicly championing their wins. You will lead product architecture, qualification, and long-term development.
